Legal & Notarial Translation

Legal & Notarial Translation

Contracts, deeds, powers of attorney, and legal correspondence with specialist legal translators.

Legal documents have two layers. The first is linguistic: the translation must be accurate. The second is legal: the translator must understand what the document is doing, not just what it says. A non-disclosure agreement that uses a term that maps to a different legal concept in the target language is a problem that will surface when the document is challenged, not when it is read.

We translate legal documents with translators who have either law degrees or extensive professional legal translation experience. The assignment is made by document type: a property deed goes to a real estate law specialist; a commercial contract goes to a commercial law translator. We do not use the same translator for everything.

For documents destined for use before Italian courts, notaries, or public authorities, sworn translation is available as an add-on. The sworn translation is performed by a court-registered translator and includes the sworn declaration required by Italian procedural law.

For international contracts, we handle both Italian-outbound (Italian original, foreign-language translation) and Italian-inbound (foreign original, Italian translation) equally well. If the original contract is in English and the Italian version needs to be the governing version, we translate with that in mind.

In practice

A Naples property developer acquiring commercial properties across Northern Italy needed all purchase deeds, preliminary contracts, and due diligence documentation translated into English for a UK institutional investor. 28 transactions over 18 months. The UK legal team reviewed and approved all translations without revision requests.
A Campania technology company entering a US joint venture needed the full JV agreement, IP licence, and four ancillary agreements translated from English to Italian as the governing language. Delivered in six business days. Italian notary confirmed suitability for notarial execution.
