Officially recognised translations for immigration, legal proceedings, academic recognition, and public authority submissions.
Sworn translation is the form of translation recognised by Italian courts, notaries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other public authorities. It is performed by a translator registered with a court tribunal, who provides a sworn declaration that the translation is faithful and complete to the original document.
Most clients who need sworn translation need it for one of several reasons: immigration applications to foreign countries requiring Italian document translations; academic qualification recognition applications; court proceedings requiring foreign-language documents in Italian translation; or notarial procedures requiring translations with legal effect.
The sworn declaration is attached to the translated document and usually requires presentation in a specific form depending on the receiving authority. For documents that will be used in countries party to the Hague Apostille Convention, an apostille is required in addition to the sworn translation. We advise on the requirements for the specific authority and country receiving the document.
Common documents: birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, divorce decrees, academic transcripts and diplomas, professional qualifications, police clearance certificates, tax records, and property documents. We handle both directions: Italian documents for use abroad, and foreign documents for use in Italy.
